Tocharian B[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Either a learned borrowing from Sanskrit अलस (alasa, lazy) (compare *ālase), or from Proto-Indo-European *h₂elh₁- (heat), as in a fever. In the latter case, compare Irish allas (sweat).
