Galician

Etymology

13th century. From Old Galician and Old Galician-Portuguese almallo, probably from Latin animalia, via a medieval *anmallo; attested as almalio and animalio since the 9th century.[1] Cognate with Portuguese almalho, Spanish alimaña, French armaille.[2]
