Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Albanian *abula, from Proto-Indo-European *nebʰ-el (compare Latin nebula ‎(mist, cloud), Old English nifol ‎(mist, darkness), Ancient Greek νεφέλη ‎(nephélē)), from *nébʰes ‎(cloud). Compare also Romanian abur. Alternatively from Proto-Indo-European *ogʷolmo (cf. German Qualm ‎(fumes))[1].
