Etymology

From Proto-Albanian *abula, from Proto-Indo-European *nebʰ-el (compare Latin nebula (mist, cloud), Old English nifol (mist, darkness), Ancient Greek νεφέλη (nephélē)), from *nébʰos (cloud).[1] Compare also Romanian abur.
