Etymology

Compound of baggböla (“[to] illegally log”) +‎ -eri (“verb→noun”). From the sawmill in Baggböle, which from the 1840s to the 1860s was involved in several court cases accused of felling forests owned by the Swedish crown. First attested in 1898.
