Central Franconian[edit]

Alternative forms[edit]

  • biehe (southern Moselle Franconian)

Etymology[edit]

From Old High German biogan.

Pronunciation[edit]

Verb[edit]

beeje (third-person singular present büch or beecht, past tense boch, past participle jeboge or geboge)

  1. (Ripuarian, northern Moselle Franconian, transitive) to bend
  2. (same regions, reflexive) to be bent
Et jitt Saache, die sich loße beeje, on Saache, die kapottbrääche.
There are things that can be bent, and things that break in two.

Usage notes[edit]

  • The past tense is restricted to Ripuarian and rather rare. Otherwise the forms büch; jeboge are Ripuarian, whereas beecht; geboge are Moselle Franconian.
