Etymology

From earlier blickzen, from Middle High German bleczen, from Old High German blechazan, bleckezzen, blekkezzen, from Proto-Germanic *blikkatjaną (to shine, glitter). Cognate with Old English bliccettan, blīcettan (to shine, glitter, quiver).
