Borrowed from Middle French blond m, from Old French blond, blont, Medieval Latin blondus, from Frankish *blund (a mixed color between golden and light-brown), from Proto-Germanic *blundaz (mixed, blinding), from Proto-Indo-European *bʰlendʰ- (to become turbid, see badly, go blind).
