From Proto-Celtic *kaikos ‎(blind), from Proto-Indo-European *káykos ‎(one-eyed). Cognate with Cornish koeg ‎(empty), Irish caoch, Latin caecus ‎(blind), Gothic 𐌷𐌰𐌹𐌷𐍃 ‎(haihs, one-eyed).
