From Old Galician and Old Galician-Portuguese cõello (13th century, Cantigas de Santa Maria), from Vulgar Latin *cuniclus, from Latin cunīculus, from Ancient Greek κύνικλος (kúniklos), probably from Lua error in Module:parameters at line 290: Parameter 2 should be a valid language, etymology language or family code; the value "qfa-sub-ibe" is not valid. See WT:LOL, WT:LOL/E and WT:LOF.. Cognate with Portuguese coelho and Spanish conejo.
