Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Tungusic *ʒapkun. Compare Manchu ᠵᠠᡴᡡᠨ (jakūn).
Cognate with Nanai дякпон (ʒakpon), Udihe ʒакпу (ʒakpu), Negidal ӡапкун (ʒapkun), Oroqen dʒapkʊn, Evenki дяпкун (ʒapkun), Solon jahong, and Even дяпкан (ʒapkan) etc.
