Etymology

From Medieval Latin or Late Latin dēcadēre, from Latin de- and cadere (to fall) (whence also cair). Cf. also the Classical Latin form decidō, decidere. Compare Spanish decaer, Catalan decaure, Italian decadere, French déchoir.
