From Proto-Albanian *widertjā, with loss of the first unstressed syllable, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Indo-European *sweyd- (compare Greek ιδρός (idrós), English sweat, Italian sudore).[1] For Albanian d < PIE *sw compare diell.
