Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Turkic *gēč (-e) (night, evening, yesterday)[1]. Cognite with Turkish gece (night), Turkmen gije, Crimean Tatar gece, Tatar кичә (kiçä, yesterday), Uyghur كەچە (keche), Kazakh кеш (keş, evening), Kyrgyz кеш (keş, evening, late).
