  • Audio (Gotland):(file)
  • Rhymes: -uːp

Adverb

ihop (not comparable)

Usage notes

[edit]
  • Participles of phrasal verbs with ihop are sometimes instead written with hop, like hopsatt (put together [state]) instead of ihopsatt – from sätta ihop (put together). This is considered more proper by some, but both forms are common in the media.
  • Hop is also commonly used in compound forms of phrasal verbs with ihop, like hopsätta vs. sätta ihop. Such compounds are uncommon in contemporary Swedish and perceived as formal.
  • Hop is a bit more idiomatic than ihop in a few compounds, like hopbiten and hopsjunken.
