Etymology[edit]
Cognate with Unami kimuxwe (“he walks quietly, stealthily”), from Proto-Eastern Algonquian *kīmwoxwēw, from Proto-Algonquian *ki·mwohθe·wa, from *ki·mi·- (“secretly”) + *wohθe·wa (“to walk”). Related to kiimíikwsuw (“to sneak around crawling”), kíimii- (“secretly”).
