Etymology

The word klám is considered to be related to the Norwegian word klåmen (moist, glutinous, adhesive). Compare the (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Ancient Greek words γλάμη (glámē), γλάμον (glámon), γλαμυρός (glamurós) and the Lithuanian word glemes. The word klám is also connected to the Low German word klam.[1]
