Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from Sicilian cucinu, cuginu and/or Italian cugino, both from Old French cosin, from Latin consobrinus.

Usage notes[edit]

  • As above, the stem is often extended to kuġinu- before pronominal suffixes, though forms like kuġinha are also correct.
