From Middle Welsh llauer, from Proto-Celtic *lawaros (compare Old Irish lour (“enough”), modern Irish (go) leor, from Proto-Indo-European *leh₂w- (“benefit, prize”); compare Ancient Greek λᾱρός (lārós, “tasty”).
