From Proto-Celtic *lukotes (compare Cornish logos, Breton logod), plural of *lukōts (compare Welsh llyg ‎(shrew), Old Breton loc, Irish luch), from Proto-Indo-European *pelukos (compare Polish pilch, Wakhi pürk), enlargement of *pelios (compare Lithuanian pelė̃), from *pel- ‎(grey) (compare Welsh llwyd).
