Ultimately from Ottoman Turkish لوقوم (lokum), from Arabic رَاحَة الْحُلْقُوم (rāḥa(t) al-ḥulqūm). Compare French loukoum, Italian lokum, Russian рахат-луку́м (raxat-lukúm).
