Etymology[edit]

Clearly related to Proto-Bahnaric *muəj (one) and the Proto-Mon-Khmer numeral, but the final ‹nh› is unexplained. Compare also pêng (three), with unexpected ‹ng›.

  • The form mônh when it is the last morpheme in a phrase, such as ʼbar jĭt mônh (twenty one), mĭnh is used instead when it precedes other elements, for example mĭnh hrĕng (one hundred)
