From Ottoman Turkish ممانعت, from Arabic مُمَانَعَة (mumānaʕa), verbal noun of form III from the root م ن ع (m-n-ʕ).

      Dersim rebel leader Seyid Riza and two companions surrendered to Erzincan authorities yesterday.
