From minut, or less likely a (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Vulgar Latin *minutō (with the Aromanian suffix -edz). Compare regional/obsolete Romanian mănunta, Italian minutare, Portuguese miudar, Occitan menutar, amenudar.[1]
