Etymology

Uncertain. Probably of (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Lua error in Module:parameters at line 360: Parameter 1 should be a valid language or etymology language code; the value "sla" is not valid. See WT:LOL and WT:LOL/E. origin, compare (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Slavic *mogyla (sepulchral cairn), or an expressive creation based on a root moc-. The word found in Slavic languages seems itself to be of foreign origin. It has been attempted to link it to a Gepid word, but this is unlikely. Compare also Albanian gamulë, and Romanian măgură.
