Turkish[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Ottoman Turkish مخابر. Probably a late Ottoman coinage but Arabic مُخَابِر (muḵābir) would be a regular formation from خَابَرَ (ḵābara, to write to, to contact). Compare Azerbaijani müxbir from a different form of the same root.

Noun[edit]

muhabir (definite accusative muhabiri, plural muhabirler)

  1. correspondent, reporter [from 19th c.]
