Via German olympisch from Ancient Greek Ὀλυμπικός (Olumpikós), Ὀλυμπιακός (Olumpiakós), Ὀλύμπιος (Olúmpios), derived partly from Ὄλυμπος (Ólumpos, Mount Olympus), partly from Ὀλυμπος (Olumpos, Olympia).
