Etymology[edit]
From an infixed form of Proto-Mon-Khmer *pɗuh ~ *pɗuəh ~ *pɗiəs; cognate with Khmer ផ្ទុះ (phtuh, “to explode”), Bahnar pơđôh (“to explode”), Pacoh padóh (“to explode”), Proto-Vietic *ɗoh (whence Vietnamese nổ (“to explode”)).
