Etymology

From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Albanian *pati, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Indo-European *pet, *petɘ (to stretch). Cognate to Greek πετάννυμι (petánnymi, id), Latin pateō (to stretch, to be spread).[1]
