Etymology[edit]

From Ottoman Turkish پزونك(pezevenk), پوزونك(püzevenk, pözevenk), from Middle Armenian բոզաւագ (bozawag), from Old Armenian բոզաւագ (bozawag).[1]

Alternatively, from Persian پژوند(pažavand, pažvand), پژاوند(pažâvand, pimp). It may be a cognate of Azerbaijani pəzəvəng (huge, churl, berk, lout).
