From Proto-Turkic *sat- (“to sell”).[1] Cognate with Turkish satmak, Old Turkic [script needed] (sat-, “sell”), Kazakh сату (satu, “to sell”), Uzbek sotmoq (“to sell”), Chuvash сот (sot), etc.
