Etymology

Prossibly an -m lengthening of shkal, hence shkallmoj (to destroy, bring down). Cognate to Ancient Greek σκάλμη (skálmē, knife, sword), Thracian skálmē (knife, sword) and Old Norse scolm (short sword, knife).
