Aromanian[edit]

Alternative forms[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Latin turdus, ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *trosdos. The initial s- possibly due to influence from sturnus, and the final -dz- perhaps because the word was reformed from the plural, or less likely through a Vulgar Latin *turdeus. Compare Romanian sturz.
