Aromanian

Etymology

Uncertain. Possibly from Thracian *suntam. Less likely, it may be derived instead from Proto-Slavic *sъto. Otherwise, it may have descended from a substratum term, or an unknown satem language, in any case ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *ḱm̥tóm (hundred). Compare Romanian sută.

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): [ˈsu.tɨ], [ˈsu.tə]

Numeral

sutã f (plural suti or sute)

  1. hundred
