[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish طرمالامق (tırmalamak), from Proto-Turkic *tïrŋa-k (“finger-nail, claw”). Equivalent to tırnak (“fingernail, claw”) + -la (forms verbs from nouns) + -mak (infinitive suffix).
