[edit]From Ottoman Turkish تقویه (takviye), from Arabic تَقْوِيَة (taqwiya), verbal noun of قَوَّى (qawwā). Ottoman Turkish also borrowed the alternative pronunciation تقویت (takviyet), but that form is obsolete.
