From Common Turkic *toŋuz (pig); cognate with Old Turkic 𐱃𐰆𐰭𐰆𐰕 (toŋuz), Turkish domuz, Azerbaijani donuz, Bashkir дуңғыҙ (duñğıź), Kazakh доңыз (doñyz), Kyrgyz доңуз (doŋuz), Turkmen doňuz, and Uyghur توڭگۇز (tongguz).
