[edit]From tromocratia, from Greek τρομοκρατία (tromokratía, “terrorism”), a calque of French terrorisme through Ancient Greek τρόμος (trómos, “trembling, fear”) and -κρατία (-kratía, “-cracy, rule”) (thus also producing Ancient Greek τρομόκρατης (tromókratēs, “terrorist”))
