Etymology 1

From Proto-Albanian *awa-derna (to go away), from Proto-Indo-European *drem- (to run). Cognate to (aorist) Ancient Greek ἔδραμον (édramon, to run away), Sanskrit द्राति (drāti, to run, to hasten).[1] Alternatively from v- +‎ djerr.
