[edit]Etymology
[edit]Simplified from an earlier бърдчи́на (bǎrdčína), an augmentative form of бърдец (bǎrdec, “hillock”) (obsolete, dialectal), possibly under the phonetic influence of Bulgarian бъ́рча (bǎ́rča, “to wrinkle”). Equivalent to бърдо (bǎrdo) + -чина (-čina).
