Etymology[edit]

Causative of кэрэхсээ (kereqsee).

Verb[edit]

кэрэхсэт (kereqset)

  1. (transitive) to interest, to arouse interest, to attract attention
Synonym: абылаа (abılaa, to beguile, to bewitch, to fascinate)
    бу этии дьону кэрэхсэттэ
    bu etii jonu kereqsette
this speech attracted the attention of the public
  2. to be respected, to be honored

Usage notes[edit]

When translating, note that in this case "attention" is not a separate word. Thus, the accusative (which marks the direct object) is used to indicate whose attention is attracted.
