The origin is unknown.[1] Perhaps connected with թաւալ (tʻawal).[2]

  1. (transitive) to tumble, knock down, demolish
    տապալել զխորհուրդս ուրուքtapalel zxorhurds urukʻto destroy a person's projects
    տապալել զամենայն զխոչ եւ զխութtapalel zamenayn zxočʻ ew zxutʻto surmount the greatest obstacles
    գելոյր տապալէր երկդիմիgeloyr tapalēr erkdimiմտօք he tortured himself with uncertainty
