Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Iranian *daiH- (“to look, see”). Related to آدینکار (ádénkár, “mirror maker”), Persian آیینه (âyine, “mirror”), Ossetian айдӕн (ajdæn, “mirror”), Northern Kurdish neynik, Parthian 𐫀𐫀𐫅𐫏𐫗𐫃 (ʾʾdyng /āδenāg/, “mirror”).
