Cognate with Bengali ওর (ōr, “boundary”), Maithili 𑒍𑒩 (ōra, “side, end, direction”), Hindustani اور (or) / ओर (or, “side, nearness”), Nepali ओर (or, “the near side”), Kumaoni ओरी (“the near side”), Punjabi ਓਰ (ora, “side”), Gujarati ઓર (ora, “line of descent”).
