From Sanskrit जम्बुद्वीप (jambudvīpa); ultimately from जम्बु (jambu, jambu tree) +‎ द्वीप (dvīpa, island) +‎ -ము (-mu)

జంబూద్వీపము (jambūdvīpamu? (plural జంబూద్వీపములు)

  1. Jambudvipa: A poetical name of India, said to be so named from the Jambu tree abounding in it, and implying, according to the Puránas, the central division of the world, or the known world: according to the Baud'dhas, it is confined to India.
