[edit]From Old Georgian ნიჩური (ničuri), ultimately from Proto-Georgian-Zan. Doublet of ნიჩქვი (ničkvi, “ugly face”) and ნიჩვი (ničvi, “nose, snout”). See Old Georgian for more.

Old Georgian

[edit]From Proto-Georgian-Zan *ničw-, cognate with Mingrelian ნი(ნ)ჩქვი (ni(n)čkvi, “snout, mug”).[1][2] Imereti Georgian ნიჩვი (ničvi, “nose, snout”) is derived from the same root, Svan ნიჩუ̂ (ničû, “face”) is borrowed from Georgian.
