From Mingrelian ყალიჩავა (q̇aličava), equivalent to ყალი (q̇ali, throat) +‎ უჩა (uča, black) +‎ -ავა (-ava), sometimes also derived from ყალი (q̇ali, throat) +‎ ჩე (če, white) +‎ -ავა (-ava).
