Ancient Greek
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Maybe connected with ἀμαλός (amalós, “soft, bland”), ἀμβλίσκω (amblískō, “to be abortive, to go blind”), or ἀμαλδύνω (amaldúnō, “to destroy, weaken”) (<< Proto-Indo-European *ml̥dus (“soft, weak”)), but none of these associations are strong.
