GLAGOLITIC CAPITAL LETTER DJERVI

[U+2C0B]
Glagolitic
[U+2C0D]

Translingual[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Source unknown. Since the original sound value of approximated /d͡ʑ/, it was used to render the Byzantine Greek pronunciation of palatalized [gʲ] in such borrowings as ⰼⰵⱀⱁⰰ (đenoa, hell) (from Greek γεέννα (geénna)) as well as the reflexes of Proto-Slavic */d'/ in the Western South Slavic medieval texts.

Letter[edit]

d'ervь

  1. The twelfth letter of the Glagolitic alphabet.
