Sino-Korean word from 화학(化學) (hwahak) + 식(式) (sik).
Pronunciation[edit]
- (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [ˈɸwa̠(ː)ɦa̠kɕ͈ik̚]
- Phonetic hangul: [화(ː)학씩]
- Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
